Foxhound dog

Foxhounds were the first of the canine breeds in Britain to fall under the dominance of scientific breeding. There had been hounds of older origin, such as the Southern Hound and the Hound; but towards the end of the seventeenth century, something different was wanted to hunt the wild deer that had dispersed a little after the Cromwell Civil War. Consequently, the demand was for a dog faster than those known until now, and people dedicated to hunting began to breed it.

Head:-
Somewhat wide, not pointed like the Bloodhound, but long from the apex to the frontal bones, very prominent eyebrows, clean cut cheeks from the eye to the nostril, the ears lowered and in their natural state, thin and well-shaped nose, but not big. large, strong, and level jaw, and small dewlap, fierce expression, and often best repellent.

Eyes:-
Very bright and deep, full of determination and with a very firm expression. The appearance of the foxhound is very remarkable.

The neck must be perfectly clean, without any curl on the skin. The length of the neck is important, both for squatting and for giving an air of majesty.

Back:-
The blades should be well back and sloped, otherwise wide and strong, to meet the arms, which should be long and powerful.
